Neurological Disease Research

Evotec announced that it has signed within the "NEU²-Consortium" framework and partially funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium fuer Bildung und Forschung - BMBF), an agreement with Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, to develop pre-clinical candidates for an undisclosed neurological disease. Evotec will provide drug discovery expertise covering in vitro biology, medicinal chemistry and in vitro and in vivo pharmacology. more

Merck KGaA Sells Théramex To Teva

Merck KGaA announced that it will sell Théramex, its Monaco-based pharmaceutical company specialized in women's health and gynecology, to Teva. Merck and Teva have signed an agreement whereby Teva will acquire all Théramex operations including 100% of the shares of Théramex S.A.M of Monaco and Théramex S.p.A. of Italy for a consideration of EUR 265 million. Evaluation of the Separation of Acidic Compounds

Hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) [1] has been described as a useful alternative to reversed-phase chromatography for polar compounds that not are retained on conventional C18 columns. In the HILIC mode of separation, a mixture of organic and aqueous solvents are used as mobile phase in combination with polar stationary phases [2-4], such as ion exchange, amino, silica, diol, zwitterion to obtain retention of highly polar compounds. Silica columns intended for HILIC are commercially available and provided by several manufacturers. more
