At the Biotechnica 2011 in Hannover, Germany, Eppendorf presented the winners of the idea competition "pipette stand of the future". The company was looking for new ideas for this instrument via crowdsourcing.
The winners are:
1. Yener Selcuk
2. Bianca Behrens
3. Sarah Boubakri
Yener Selcuk's concept proposes a better adhesion for the pipettes in the pipette stand. Further the stand includes an integrated alarm clock, an USB-port, which can be used to play music, for example. The color of the LED lights at the bottom of the stand can be changed so that a contamination of the stand can be indicated. Take a look at the pipette stand (Webcast is in German).
Bianca Behrens presented her draft, which is a very flexible pipette stand due to the exchangeable pipette holder. Another idea was here to integrate a charger within the pipette stand for the electrical pipettes.
A simple and pragmatic approach was presented by Sarah Boukari. Her pipette stand can be attached to the shelf above the laboratory bench and offers special trays for pens.
