The 5th World Vaccine Congress Asia 2011 is taking place in Singapore right now and it is an event were latest information, trends and movements in the Asia Pacific region for vaccine researchers and manufacturers across the globe are being discussed.
Included into this event is the Vaccine Industry Excellence (ViE) Asia Awards 2011 which was presented on 21st of June. The awards were awarded in the following categories:
• Most Innovative Asian Biotech Excellence Award (Vaccines in development/approved)
• Best Vaccine Pipeline for Asia Award
• Best Therapeutic Vaccine for Asia Award
• Best Clinical Research Organisation Excellence Award
• Vaccine Executive of the Year Award
And the Winners are:
The 'Most Innovative Asian Biotech Excellence Award' went to Vaxine. Nominated beside Vaxine were the companies Sinovac and Panacea Biotec.
GlaxoSmithKline received the award 'Best Vaccine Pipeline for Asia Award'. Nominated were also the companies Novartis and Sanofi Pasteur.
Winner of the 'Best Therapeutic Vaccine for Asia Award' was the company Ondek. Nominated in this category were also the companies Immunitor and Novavax.
The winner of the award ‘Best Clinical Research Organisation Excellence Award' was the company Quintiles. Nominated beside Quintiles were the companies PPD and Parexel.
Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla of the Serum Institute of India was honored with the ‘Vaccine Executive of the Year Award'. Nominated beside C. Poonawalla was Christopher A. Viehbacher, Sanofi-Aventis and Yin Weidong, Sinovac.
