8th International Meeting Stem Cell Network NRW

The 8th International Meeting of the German Stem Cell Network North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) will take place on the 21 & 22 April 2015 in the former German parliament building in Bonn. Speakers such as Fred Gage, Ron MacKay, Clare Blackburn and Thomas Zwaka will ensure thorough coverage of current topics such as disease modelling, stem cell-derived organoids and pluripotent stem cells.

Modelling diseases with the help of patient-derived iPS cells is still a promising field which could lead not only to understanding disease pathologies but also to cellbased treatments. Fred Gage (La Jolla), the opening speaker at the Meeting, is using cell models to understand neurological and psychological diseases.

With its inaugural Meeting twelve years ago, the Stem Cell Network NRW established Germany's first internationally oriented congress on stem cell research. In 2015, the focus of the congress will be on modelling functional organs, stem cell engineering and the specification of stem cells. 650+ participants are expected. The conference is accompanied by an industry and poster exhibition. Thanks to the support of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, attendance at this first class congress will be free of charge.
