Application of LC-MS/MS and One-point Calibration to Pesticide Residue Control in Fruits and ...

Pesticide residue control in food and feed remains a challenge for analysts despite the enormous progress in the development of new analytical techniques, procedures and analytical equipment. To ensure food and feed safety and protect consumers from exposure to unacceptable levels of pesticides residues maximum residual levels (MRLs) allowed in a commodity are set by European Comission and reviewed as needed. The number of compounds which should be monitored is immense. The number of types and kinds of food commodities is a lso tremendous. more

Nitrated Proteins and Allergies

Nitration of proteins on tyrosine residues occur upon exposure to ozone and nitrogen oxides in polluted air. This posttranslational modification of proteins can trigger immune reactions and provides a molecular rationale for the promotion of allergies by traffic-related air pollution [1].

Chiral Ionic Liquids - Derived from Amino Acid Ester Cations

Chiral ionic liquids (CILs) are attractive for their potential applications in chiral analysis. The recent increase in ILs derived from amino acids that are chiral, ‘green', biocompatible and less toxic has also created interest in CILs. The synthesis and analysis of CILs derived from both enantiomeric forms of alanine and leucine ester chlorides and lithium bis- (pentafluoroethylsulfonyl)imide is described. The resultant CILs were liquids and thermally stable up to 288°C. more
