More stable under pressure than "normal" columns
Hara et al. have shown in a study that monolithic Nano-Columns with an internal diameter of 50 µm and 100 µm exhibit a pressure stability of up to 800 bar. Conventional monolithic phases with an internal diameter of between 2.1mm and 4.6mm have only a limited pressure stability of up to 200 bar. The higher pressure stability in the miniaturised phases is probably due to a better connectivity between the stationary phase and the peripheral region of the capillaries.
