In the brand new edition of „separation - science & applications" Thorsten Teutenberg discusses if 2D LC alone can truly be the answer for the analysis of real, complex samples. Additionally, Joontaek Park takes a look at the current status of shape-based particle separation with field flow fractionation. Sample preparation for mass spectrometry is the topic of Kevin Schug's review article, which gives an overview about several techniques with respect to the virtual special issue on this topic by the Journal of Separations Science.
