The Thermo Scientific Cell Locker System enables safe simultaneous growth of segregated cells in a single incubator. Cell culture laboratories working with sensitive cell types can now use a new technology that significantly simplifies cell culture management while ensuring optimal sample safety in gene and cell therapy and medical application development.
With the Thermo Scientific Cell Locker System, different sensitive cells can be cultured in separate, strictly separated, removable protected chambers within the same incubator. This ensures better protection, stability and flexibility even for the most demanding cultures.
The Cell Locker System divides the incubator into six separate autoclavable polycarbonate chambers in which different cell types or projects can be cultivated in confined but isolated spaces. Independent tests have shown that microbial contaminants cannot enter or escape from a closed chamber. Cross-contamination can thus be almost completely ruled out. The chamber doors can also be opened individually so that the conditions in the other chambers remain stable and consistent so that the cells can grow optimally there.
The new Cell Locker System is available for the Thermo Scientific Heracell VIOS 160i and Thermo Scientific Forma Steri-Cycle i160 CO2 incubator models, which have a six-section interior door behind which the individual chambers can be placed. Each Cell Locker chamber can accommodate up to nine T-75 cell culture flasks, 20 6 well microtiter plates or 24 96 well microtiter plates. The user can either use all six chambers with the Cell Locker System or combine them flexibly with conventional shelf space.
